This is one of my favorite songs on the forthcoming Puig Destroyer record, and almost all of that is due to the lyrical content. We’re a baseball-themed “band”, but I think the message in the song applies to any and all types of fantasy sports. It’s especially apropos at this time of year because it seems like 75% of the country will not shut the hell up about their fantasy football team(s) right now … myself included.
Last summer, we introduced you to Puig Destroyer, a supergroup of scream-y grindcore enthusiasts and baseball fans named in honor of a certain Dodgers phenom. Today, we are pleased to report that the quartet (a “virtual band” featuring dudes from Thrice, Kowloon Walled City, and Curl Up and Die) is readying a self-titled, full-length album you can pre-order here for a mere $7. Puig Destroyer will be out on September 30 (“just in time for the MLB postseason”), featuring 20 very scream-y (and short) tracks.
I’d like to invite you to chug a few cups of coffee and mosh your way through the morning while listening to “Mike Trout" as loud as your preferred listening device can handle. This track is a little more straightforward than our previous work, but I assure you that the rest of the record is faster, heavier, slower, more brutal, more melodic, more absurd, and entirely baseball-themed. If you’re a fan of any or all of those things, you’re gonna love it.
